PTI leader on Wednesday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court challenging Punjab government Ordinance about the Punjab Assembly powers and holding budget session at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.

It is worth mentioning here that PTI leader Zainab Umair filed the petition through her counsel Advocate Azhar Siddique, and made the president, the governor and the Punjab government as respondents. The petitioner said that the powers to notify and de-notify the session were given to the Punjab Secretary law.

Zainab also said that the ordinance issued by the Punjab governor was against rules of the provincial assembly and was clear violation of the Constitution. The Governor, she said, did not have powers to call session of the assembly at any place other than the assembly. She asked the court to declare the ordinance as null and void.

It may be mentioned here that for more than a week Punjab Assembly session was being held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
