KARACHI – The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its positive momentum on Friday as a strong buying spree by investors pushed the benchmark KSE-100 Index above the 170,000-point mark.
During ongoing trading, the KSE-100 Index climbed 1,777.05 points, or 1.05%, to reach 170,820.24 points.
The index also touched an intraday high of 170,903.94 points, while its low stood at 169,399.98 points.
The latest gains came as investors remained active in the market, reflecting a buying rally that extended the bullish momentum witnessed in the previous session.
Trading volume stood at 72.19 million shares, while the index had closed at 169,043.19 points in the previous session.
Buying interest was recorded in key sectors, including automobile assemblers, cement, commercial banks, oil and gas exploration companies, OMCs and power generation.
A day earlier, the benchmark KSE-100 index witnessed a bullish trend on Thursday, gaining 1,021.40 points, a positive change of 0.61 percent, to close at 169,043.20 points.
The ready market witnessed a trading volume of 386.368 million shares, compared to 356.138 million shares traded in the previous session, while the traded value increased to Rs20.091 billion from Rs19.487 billion.
Market capitalisation increased to Rs18.847 trillion from Rs18.721 trillion recorded a day earlier.
Out of 500 companies that traded in the ready market, 296 posted gains, 152 suffered losses, while 52 remained unchanged, reflecting an overall bullish momentum in the market.
