Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute and Research Center commemorated World Kidney Day on March 9, 2023, by organizing a Walk.

The walk was arranged to shed light on the importance of kidney awareness among the masses. Dr Mobin Chaudhry, Medical Director PKLI, was the Chief Guest. Dr Adil Manzoor, Chairman Nephrology PKLI, and Dr Nauman Zafar, Consultant Urology, were the keynote speakers who expressed their concerns over Diabetes, Hypertension, Kidney Diseases, and their Prevention.

The event was arranged to augment awareness among the public about the significance of our kidneys in keeping them healthy and to spread the message that kidney disease is common and treatable and if neglected can lead to renal failure requiring dialysis and transplantation. One out of ten persons suffers from chronic kidney disease.

Pakistan ranks eighth in kidney diseases causing 20,000 deaths every year. Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) is rapidly growing in Pakistan owing to factors such as late diagnosis, kidney stone disease, diabetes, and high blood pressure. The only feasible solution is the prevention of chronic kidney diseases. PKLI understands the gravity of the matter and is the bringing community together to produce a powerful voice against kidney diseases to save as many lives as possible.
