LAHORE – All Pakistan Petrol Pump Owners Association Chairman Hamayoun Khan has expressed ignorance about the government’s recently announced Rs100 per-litre relief package on petrol.
Hamayoun Khan said the petrol pump owners had not been informed about the details of the Rs100-per-litre subsidy announced by the government.
“We do not know anything about the Rs100 subsidy on petrol,” he said, adding that the lack of clarity could lead to disputes between customers and petrol station owners over the subsidy.
Meanwhile, association General Secretary Nauman Butt said the government had announced the subsidy but had not explained how petrol pump owners would be reimbursed for the amount.
He questioned the mechanism through which the subsidy amount would be paid back to petrol station owners, saying clarity was needed on the implementation process.
The government has announced a subsidy of Rs100 per litre for motorcycles and vehicles with engines of up to 800cc.
The subsidy programme has already been launched in Islamabad.
