Gold Price Trends in Pakistan
Despite the latest correction, gold has recorded a significant rise in Pakistan during August. At the start of the month, 24K gold was trading at approximately Rs428,000–430,000 per tola. By the final week of August, the rate had climbed close to Rs484,000.
Based on these levels, gold has gained around Rs53,000–54,000, translating into an increase of approximately 12.5–12.6% during the month. Bullion traded around Rs481,500–484,000 per tola between August 24 and 26, before coming under renewed selling pressure on August 27.
The strong August recovery has broadly followed international gold prices, which have recently remained near $4,600 per ounce. Local bullion rates are also influenced by movements in the USD/PKR exchange rate, developments in international markets, geopolitical uncertainty and demand for gold as a safe-haven asset.
Gold remained highly volatile throughout 2026. Prices crossed Rs500,000 per tola in January before weakening during March through June. By July, the market had settled around Rs420,000–430,000 per tola, followed by a sharp rebound in August.
The precious metal was trading at approximately Rs360,000 per tola in August 2025. At the current rate of Rs483,036, gold is therefore around 30–35% more expensive year-on-year.
