Pakistani boxer Qudratullah has disappeared in Glasgow hours before the scheduled return of national team after participating in the Commonwealth Games.
According to the media reports, the boxer was last seen in his hotel room at around 2am.
The team was scheduled to gather in the hotel lobby at 9am before departing for Pakistan. But he was not found in his hotel room.
Qudratullah’s passport and return air ticket are still with the team manager, raising further questions about his whereabouts.
The incident is the latest in a series of similar cases involving Pakistani boxers during overseas tours.
Last year, boxer Zohaib disappeared while on a trip to Italy, while another national team member had also gone missing during an earlier international visit.
The disappearance comes after Pakistan concluded one of its least successful Commonwealth Games campaigns. The 21-member squad returned with only one medal, earned by Fatima Zahra, who claimed bronze in the women’s 60kg boxing event.
Pakistan’s single-medal haul equals its lowest tally since the 1998 Commonwealth Games, when the country secured only one silver medal.
Excluding the medal-less 1990 edition, the 2026 campaign stands as Pakistan’s poorest Commonwealth Games performance in the last 36 years.
Much of Pakistan’s medal expectations had been pinned on Olympic javelin champion Arshad Nadeem, who led the contingent as flag-bearer at the opening ceremony. However, he was unable to finish on the podium.
