Pakistan-China Friendship gets Powerful Voice with Information Corridor

Pakistan China Friendship Gets Powerful Voice With Information Corridor

ISLAMABAD – Iron-friends Pakistan and China have given their longstanding friendship a new voice, with Information Corridor being launched in Islamabad to strengthen media ties, counter misinformation and connect people through business, research and cultural exchanges.

Launched at Pakistan-China Friendship Centre in Islamabad, the initiative aims to give the bilateral relationship a stronger public voice through credible reporting, digital engagement and greater exchanges between institutions and citizens. Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar said the corridor would bring media organisations, universities, scholars, think tanks, businesses and young people into a shared framework for cooperation.

Tarar said CPEC represented the body of the two countries’ shared future, while the information corridor would serve as its voice.

The initiative rests on four pillars: media; business and enterprise; think tanks; and culture, tourism and youth. Together, these areas are intended to translate longstanding diplomatic goodwill into wider professional, commercial and public engagement.

Under the media pillar, Pakistani and Chinese organisations would exchange verified news and develop fact-checking mechanisms to tackle misinformation. The business component would encourage trade and investment connections, creating opportunities for enterprises to build closer links. Joint research, publications and dialogue would form the think-tank pillar, bringing greater depth and evidence to discussions on bilateral cooperation. Cultural activities, tourism promotion and youth exchanges would help citizens develop a closer understanding of each other’s societies.

Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning welcomed the launch, saying the growing challenge of fake news made accurate, timely and reliable information increasingly important. She said the corridor would help communicate more stories of China-Pakistan cooperation, broaden public understanding of the friendship and strengthen support for the countries’ all-weather strategic partnership.

Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong said greater information sharing would build understanding of both nations’ cultures and traditions, bringing their people closer together. He also expressed confidence that the platform would help counter propaganda directed at Pakistan and China and address gaps in public understanding.

Federal Information and Broadcasting Secretary Ashfaq Ahmed Khalil said the initiative reflected the breadth of a relationship that had expanded over 75 years of diplomatic ties.
