WANA – All students and staff at Cadet College Wana in South Waziristan were safely evacuated during a high-risk operation against terrorists hiding inside the campus.
While cadets were unharmed, around 300 people remained inside during the tense standoff. The operation, led by the IG Frontier Corps Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (South), will continue until the last militant is neutralized. Security officials confirmed that the attackers were Afghan militants, and extreme precautions are being taken to protect the cadets. Approximately 650 individuals, including 525 cadets, were present at the time of the attack, according to state media.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi stated that three people were killed during the operation but did not specify their identities. He assured the public that all civilians were rescued safely and that the terrorists’ plan to take hostages had failed.
The attack began when two militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college’s main gate, collapsing it and damaging an adjacent building. Naqvi accused Afghanistan of direct involvement, saying the attackers were in constant contact with handlers across the border.
Security forces are now targeting three remaining militants hiding in a separate building away from cadet residences. These individuals, identified as Afghan members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), were reportedly receiving orders from across the border. Officials confirmed the area is fully secured and the operation will continue until all militants are eliminated.
The incident highlights the relentless efforts of Pakistani forces against terrorism, safeguarding hundreds of young cadets and sending a strong message to militants and their foreign supporters.
A high-stakes operation is underway at Wana Cadet College, where three Afghan militants have been cornered inside a specific building after launching a deadly assault on the institution. At the time of the attack, nearly 650 people including 525 young cadets were present inside the campus, according to security sources.
Security forces have so far rescued 115 individuals safely, but officials say more than 535 people remain trapped inside the college as the operation continues with full intensity.

According to security officials, Afghan Khawarij” are confined to one building within the compound, which is situated far from the cadets’ residential quarters. Authorities have confirmed that all cadets are safe so far, as special forces maintain a tight cordon around the area.
The operation, security sources say, is being carried out with extreme caution due to the presence of hundreds of cadets on the premises. “Protecting the students’ lives is the top priority,” an official said, confirming that the evacuation process is continuing gradually to ensure safety amid ongoing crossfire.
The gun battle erupted after massive suicide bombing on November 10, when militants rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into the college’s main gate. The blast obliterated the entrance and damaged nearby buildings, sending shockwaves through the entire compound.
Responding swiftly, Pakistan Army troops on site launched an immediate counter-operation, killing two of the attackers on the spot. The remaining three, however, managed to take cover inside the college compound, prompting the ongoing standoff.
According to military officials, the Afghan terrorists have no link to Islam or Pakistan’s progress, calling the assault on innocent tribal students “an unforgivable crime.” “The nation must understand that those who target our children are enemies of both faith and humanity,” a security spokesperson stated.
The operation, involving elite commando units and local security forces, is said to be nearing its decisive phase, though authorities are proceeding methodically to prevent civilian casualties. As darkness falls over Wana, security forces vow to continue the mission until every terrorist is neutralized. “The operation will not stop until the complete elimination of these militants,” officials affirmed.
