QUETTA – A joint operation by the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps Balochistan, and police has continued in Balochistan, with security forces reporting the elimination of three more terrorists.
Sources said effective actions are underway against militants described as “Fitna al-Khawarij”, with security forces targeting their positions through aerial and ground operations.
The sources stated that successful strikes on militant hideouts have caused significant losses to the terrorist groups. With the latest operation, the number of militants killed during Operation Shaban has reached 88.
Security officials further said that since July 5, a total of 126 terrorists have been killed during Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations.
The operation will continue in Balochistan until the last militant is eliminated, according to security sources.
Earlier this month, at least nine police personnel, including two station house officers, were killed in a militant attack targeting a police checkpoint in Balochistan’s Ziarat district.
Shahid Rind, the Balochistan chief minister’s adviser for media and political affairs, said security forces launched a clearance operation after the attack, during which 15 militants were killed.
The state refers to members of the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan as Fitna al Khawarij.
According to sources, armed militants launched the assault on the police post during the night. A fierce exchange of fire took place between police personnel and the attackers before the militants entered the post.
Ziarat Deputy Commissioner Abdul Qudoos Achakzai confirmed the casualties and said the incident took place in the Mangi Dam area of the district.
