MUSCAT – Oman has announced a new 14-day tourist visa category that will be issued free of cost to citizens of selected countries as part of efforts to make short-term visits easier and support the growth of tourism.
The new visa facility has been introduced through amendments to the Executive Regulations of the Foreign Residence Law.
The changes were issued under a decision by Lieutenant General Hassan bin Mohsin Al Shuraiqi, Inspector General of Police and Customs, under the relevant legal framework and after approval from the Ministry of Finance.
The decision was published in Official Gazette No. 1659 on August 2, 2026, and became effective the following day.
According to the updated regulations, the competent authorities can provide the 14-day tourist visa to nationals of countries approved by the authorities, based on applications submitted by visitors and according to specific conditions.
The new rules also allow holders of the short-term visa to change their visa status before its expiration by applying for another available tourist visa category, provided they meet the required conditions and pay the applicable charges.
The 14-day visa has also been added as a separate category in the official visa fee schedule, with the fee listed as zero cost.
