ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s capital Islamabad becomes focal point of Muslim world’s dialogue on women’s empowerment as delegations from Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states arrived in Pakistan’s capital on Saturday to attend the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women.

Hosted by Pakistan’s Ministry of Human Rights, the two-day conference is being held under the theme, “Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment of Women in the OIC Countries: Challenges and Way Forward.” The high-level gathering is expected to shape future cooperation among OIC nations on expanding women’s opportunities and addressing challenges to their social, economic, and political participation.

The visiting delegations received an official welcome at Islamabad International Airport from Minister of State for Law and Justice Barrister Aqeel Malik, Parliamentary Secretary for Human Rights Saba Sadiq, Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Farah Naz Akbar, along with senior officials from the ministries of human rights and foreign affairs.

The conference brings together ministers responsible for women and family affairs, senior government representatives, officials from OIC institutions, international organisations, and development partners to exchange ideas and formulate strategies aimed at accelerating women’s empowerment across the Islamic world.

Pakistan’s Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights, Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar, will chair the ministerial conference, placing the country at the forefront of discussions on advancing inclusive development and strengthening the role of women in OIC member states.

As the conference chair, Pakistan will lead deliberations, facilitate consensus among participating countries, and help shape a shared roadmap for promoting women’s socio-economic and political empowerment across the Muslim world, reinforcing its commitment to regional cooperation and inclusive progress.
