ISLAMABAD – The National Highways and Motorways Police have reinstated the previous speed limits for vehicles on motorway and highways across Pakistan as the fuel-conservation measures have been withdrawn by the government.
It is recalled that the federal government had reduced the speed limits on motorways and highways as part of fuel saving campaign following the Middle East conflict that had disrupted energy supplies across the world.
Speed Limits for Cars, LTVs
In an announcement on social media platform X, the police said that light transport vehicles (LTVs) and motor cars can now travel at speeds of up to 120 kilometres per hour on motorways and 100 kilometres per hour on national highways.
HTVs Speed Limit
For heavy transport vehicles (HTVs), the speed limit has been reinstated at 110 kilometres per hour on motorways and 90 kilometres per hour on highways.
Police clarified that the restored speed limits of 120km/h and 110km/h apply only on road sections where those limits were previously in force.

They added that speed limits of 90km/h and 60km/h remain unchanged and must continue to be observed.
All drivers are requested to ensure compliance with the prescribed speed and traffic rules.
