Notorious dacoit killed in Mian Channu Elite cop martyred, 2 robbers killed in firing

Two robbers were killed and an Elite force jawan embraced martyrdom in a shootout on Friday.

According to police, the Elite force personnel intercepted a gang of robbers fleeing after committing a robbery in Kot Bari area of Okara.

Upon sight of police, the robber started firing at them, which resulted in the martyrdom an Elite force jawan identified as Asad Jameel.

The robbers, however, attempted to flee the scene but in retaliatory firing by police, two robbers were also killed.

The bodies of the martyred cop and the two robbers were shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities.

Meanwhile, a notorious dacoit and a proclaimed offender (PO) namely Sanaullah was killed in an alleged shootout with police at Mian Channu on Friday.

DSP Rao Tariq Pervez told the media that policemen deployed at a checkpoint near a sugar mill situated in 83 (15 LJK) signalled three motorcyclists to stop.

“But the men resorted to firing at the cops instead which resulted in an exchange of fire between the police and the suspects that lasted for 15 minutes,” he said, and added, “Meanwhile, Sanaullah was seriously injured after a bullet fired by one of his own accomplices pierced into his body while his other two accomplices managed to escape from the spot. Police shifted Sanaullah to a hospital but he died on the way.”

DSP further told that the slain dacoit was wanted by police in connection with over two dozen cases, including of theft, dacoities and firing.

“Cases were registered against him at police stations of Multan, Khanewal, Vehari, Lodhran and other districts.

Only few days ago, he had shot dead a villager, Muhammad Aslam, while trying to run away with cattle,” he concluded.
