LAHORE – The Punjab Health Department has issued timings of outpatient departments (OPDs) at all teaching hospitals in the province.

The department has also ordered action against hospitals failing to adhere to the prescribed OPD hours.

The move aims at providing maximum relief to patients across the province.

OPD Timings in Punjab

OPD hours are set from 8 am to 3 pm, Monday through Thursday, and on Saturdays, while on Fridays, OPD will operate from 8 am to 1 pm.

The health department has instructed all hospitals to strictly follow these timings and monitor OPD operations daily. A monthly report will also be required from the hospitals for review.

In case of any violations, the department has made it clear that strict action will be taken.

Meanwhile, a meeting was held at the Punjab Home Department under the chairmanship of Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir. The meeting focused on improving healthcare facilities at prison hospitals and providing better medical care for inmates.

It was decided that special jail counters will be established in all district hospitals to ensure timely medical services for prisoners.

Additionally, the meeting concluded that emergency ambulance services will be made available at all 44 prison hospitals across Punjab. The medical superintendent of the relevant District Headquarter (DHQ) hospitals will be in charge of managing the prison hospitals to ensure better supervision and administration.

Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir also emphasized the equitable distribution of funds and the categorization of prison hospitals to ensure the fair allocation of resources. The Secretary of the Punjab Home Department informed the meeting that mandatory tests for HIV, hepatitis, and tuberculosis will be carried out upon the arrival of new inmates to ensure their health is properly monitored.

The primary goal of the meeting was to strengthen the healthcare system in prison hospitals, ensure quality medical services for prisoners, and provide timely responses in emergencies.
