ISLAMABAD – Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured passengers that no traveller carrying complete and valid documents will be stopped from flying, warning that those attempting to go abroad on forged papers or through illegal means are damaging Pakistan’s reputation and such practices will not be tolerated.
During a surprise visit to Islamabad International Airport, Naqvi spent around two hours reviewing immigration procedures and interacting with outbound passengers. He directed authorities to launch a crackdown on visa agents allegedly involved in sending people abroad on fake or incomplete documents.
The minister took strict notice of a complaint lodged by a passenger regarding a shortage of staff at the immigration counters on November 7 and ordered an inquiry into the matter. He instructed his staff to thoroughly examine CCTV footage to determine responsibility and rectify administrative lapses.
Naqvi reassured the complainant that similar issues would not arise in future. He categorically stated that while genuine passengers must not face unnecessary obstacles, those travelling on unverified or forged documents would not be allowed to proceed under any circumstances.
Condemning the role of so-called “agent mafia”, the interior minister said such elements, driven by financial greed, were playing with the futures of innocent people and bringing disrepute to the country.
He vowed that the agents luring citizens abroad on false promises of employment would be shown no leniency and would face stern legal action.
