Mohammad Amir Names Virat Kohli As Toughest Batter Of His Career

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s experienced fast bowler Mohammad Amir has named Indian batting star Virat Kohli as the toughest opponent he has faced during his career.

Speaking to Wisden, Amir said Kohli had no equal among contemporary batters, praising his consistency, ability to perform under pressure and match-winning skills.

Amir said he had repeatedly stated that Kohli was the most difficult batter of his generation to bowl against.

According to Amir, Kohli has consistently produced his best performances in high-pressure and major matches, a quality that has helped establish him among the greatest batters of the modern era.

The former Pakistan pacer also identified former Australia captain Ricky Ponting and all-rounder Shane Watson as challenging opponents he faced during his career. However, he maintained that Kohli stands above all current players in terms of the difficulty he posed to bowlers.

Amir and Kohli have been involved in several memorable encounters over the years, particularly in matches between Pakistan and India.

During the 2017 Champions Trophy final, Amir dismissed Kohli early in India’s innings, playing a key role in Pakistan’s victory. Kohli, meanwhile, has produced several notable innings against Pakistan and helped India secure important wins in high-profile encounters.

Amir’s comments highlight the intense rivalry between the two cricketers, whose battles have become some of the most closely followed individual contests in modern international cricket.
