Martin Dow Group creates distinction for life – a long-standing adage that Martin Dow identifies with. Martin Dow Group is fully committed to standing strong with Pakistan for increasing productivity, exports, and wellbeing. Its flood-relief efforts have also been in full throttle.

To further expand and encourage Pakistan’s feasibility for the international markets, Martin Dow Group became the Gold Sponsor for the 19th Pharma Asia, International Exhibition & Conferences, held on Tuesday, September 13, 2022, at Expo Centre, Karachi. Held in partnership with the healthcare and academia industries, the event was centered on ‘Boosting Medical Devices Development in Pakistan’.

A key factor in the local manufacturing of medical devices is to create a successful and mutually beneficial joint venture with international companies. Mr. Javed Ghulam Mohammad, CEO/Managing Director of Martin Dow Group, shared his overview of the Medical Diagnostics Market as well as the local manufacturing opportunities, with a special reference to ‘Samane Shifa’ and the success story of The Indus Hospital. ‘Exploring manufacturing opportunities in the diagnostic equipment is not just beneficial for the industry, but for the economy at large.’ Talking of the export benefit, he said, “Local Manufacturing of medical devices would help save foreign exchange by reducing imports. Going forward, in the long run, local manufacturing of medical devices can even earn foreign exchange by exporting to other developing markets. It will also help decrease the cost of diagnostic and disease management, and help in job creation in Pakistan.”

He also shed light on the regulatory framework and the state’s role in incentivizing the sector of local manufacturing of medical devices for its essential development. Many industry leaders and esteemed professors from the academia, augmented Mr. Javed Ghulam Mouhammad’s vision via discussions and talks during the event. Learnings, insights, and visual presentations on medical research case studies constituted the entire duration of the event. The closing remarks were given by Prof Dr. Syed Shahid Noor, with a special focus on Medical Device Commercialization.
