A man allegedly gunned down his former wife and mother-in-law on Thursday, the police said.
The police informed that the incident occurred in Satyana Road area of Faisalabad. The deceased woman had contracted marriage with the suspect identified as: Faisal, a year ago and had taken divorce two months ago. This had upset her ex-husband and he was angry with the woman.
“Faisal barged into their home on Satyana Road and opened fire on his former wife and mother-in-law, DSP Tauseef Khan informed, adding that resultantly, both the women died on the spot.
The police officer recalled that the suspect had attacked his wife with a knife in the past.
The Punjab IG Police took notice of the incident and sought a report from the regional police officer.
DSP Khan said the police have launched investigation and conducting raids for arrest of the accused, saying the culprit will be behind bars soon.
Meanwhile, a lawyer identified as Faqeer Muhammad, who was tortured a few days ago, succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Rahim Yar Khan.
Faqeer Muhammad has been under treatment for the last many days at Shaikh Zayed Hospital with critical head injuries but could not survive and succumbed to his wounds.
The Rahim Yar Khan A-Division Police have registered a case of the incident with no arrest till filing of this report.
