The Lahore High Court on Tuesday directed the jail authorities to provide former chief minister and PTI central president Parvez Elahi with all facilities he was entitled to under the law in the Camp Jail.

Justice Waheed Khan passed the order on a petition by Rasikh Elahi, a son of Mr Elahi, who is on judicial remand in a case of alleged bogus appointments in the province registered by the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

The petitioner’s counsel told the court that Mr Elahi was a former chief minister and a senior politician. However, he said, the former chief minister was being denied the provision of medicines and home cooked food as advised by his doctors. The judge ordered the jail superintendent to ensure the provision of all lawful facilities to the PTI leader and disposed of the petition.

Separately, the ACE asked a judicial magistrate to review its decision of not granting physical remand of Parvez Elahi in an inquiry of alleged misappropriation in the public funds used for development projects.
