LAHORE – The Punjab Drug Control Authority has declared several batches of medicines, including a cough syrup, to be substandard and has ordered their immediate recall and cessation of sale.
An official alert issued by the authority has instructed dealers, wholesalers, and retailers to return any affected products.
The alert provided the names and details of the substandard batches, including the “Erocof” cough syrup, which was found to contain excessive amounts of “diethylene glycol”.
As a result, the syrup has been recalled, along with “Loratadine Tablets 10 mg” and others, all of which have been deemed unsafe for use.
In light of these concerns, both public and private hospitals have reported a significant rise in cases of colds, coughs, dengue, and malaria. Health experts have issued important guidelines for the public, urging those with cold symptoms to avoid physical contact, maintain distance, and wear masks to reduce the spread of infections.
Additionally, they stressed the importance of boosting immunity through a healthy diet.
