KARACHI – Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Minister for Local Government Nasir Hussain Shah inaugurated the Double Decker Bus Service in Karachi on Wednesday, a significant step to improve public transportation in the city.
During the launch, officials briefed the ministers on the key features of the new service.
Sharjeel Memon stated that the launch of double-decker buses was a promise made to the public, and such projects aim to benefit as many people as possible.
Karachi Double Decker Bus Routes
The buses will operate on a 22-kilometer route and initially, it will run from Malik to Shahrah-e-Faisal with authorities planning to expand it to other parts of the port city.
Memon assured that subsidies would be provided to make fares more affordable for the public.
Karachi Double Decker Bus Fare
The fares are distanced based and they range from Rs80 to Rs120 per passenger.
Memon also stated that the government is committed to increasing transport facilities across Sindh in the upcoming year.
Memon further shared that the Peoples Bus Service is already serving over 150,000 passengers daily, and the Green Line bus service is catering to 65,000 passengers. Additionally, work on the Red Line BRT has resumed.
Memon emphasized that improving Karachi’s infrastructure is a collective effort, with a Rs9 billion budget allocated for industrial areas. He also highlighted the development of Shahrah Bhutto as a state-of-the-art project for improving the city’s roads.
