Islamabad, Rawalpindi Weather: More Monsoon Rains Expected

More monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Monday night and during the next two days, with occasional breaks.

Isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are also expected during the forecast period.

Synoptic Situation

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the upper and central parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave is also affecting upper parts of the country and likely to persist during the next 24 hours.

Forecast

More rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and parts of Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and North-East Balochistan.

Isolated heavy and at times very heavy falls are also lkely in Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Islamabad and Punjab during the period.

Impacts

Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Sheikhupura, Kasur, Faisalabad, Multan, Sahiwal, Okara, Bahawalnagar, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Potohar Region, Peshawar, and Nowshera.

Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of Upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Buner, Battagram, Mansehra, Shangla, and Abbottabad), Murree, Galiyat, and Kashmir.

Widespread rains may trigger flash floods in local streams and nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galiyat, northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, the Pothohar Region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and the hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan.

Temperatures Outlook

Daytime temperatures in Islamabad are expected to remain between 35°C and 37°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Daytime temperatures in Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 33°C and 35°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Over the past 24 hours, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, while at isolated places in Mirpurkhas and Barkhan.
