Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pakistan weather: More rains likely till July 25

ISLAMABAD – More intermittent rains with heavy and at times heft falls are likely in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and parts of Pakistan on Wednesday evening and night, as well as over the next two days.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), a seasonal low lies over northwest Balochistan. Moist currents from the Arabian Sea are penetrating upper parts of Pakistan. A westerly wave also prevails over upper parts.

Under these conditions, more intermittent rains are likely in the twin cities, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan and northeast Balochistan on Wednesday evening/night and the next two days. Heavy and at times hefty rains are also likely in upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Pothohar region, northeast Punjab and Kashmir.

Widespread rains may generate flash floods in local nullahs/streams of Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Buner, Charsadda, Nowshera, Swabi, Mardan, Murree, Galiyat, Islamabad/Rawalpindi, hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan, northeast Punjab and Kashmir.

Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Okara, Nowshera and Peshawar. Landslides/mudslides may cause road closures in the vulnerable areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galiyat, Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 29°C and 31°C on Thursday and Friday.

Rawalpindi’s maximum temperature is expected to remain between 29°C and 31°C on Thursday and Friday.

Meanwhile, rains with isolated heavy falls occurred in Islamabad, upper/central Punjab, Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Gilgit-Baltistan during the last 24 hours. Hot and humid weather prevailed elsewhere in the country.

Nokkundi remained the hottest place in Pakistan, where the maximum temperature was recorded at 46°C. The maximum temperature in Dalbandin was recorded at 45°C and in Dadu at 44°C.

In Islamabad, the maximum temperature was recorded at 29°C. Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 96 per cent.
