Significant monsoon rains and gusty winds are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, and most parts of Pakistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Isolated heavy downpours are also expected during the forecast period.
Synoptic Situation
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), deep depression is currently located over eastern Madhya Pradesh. It is expected to move westward and weaken into a depression during the next 24 to 36 hours.
Under the influence of this deep depression, monsoon currents are continuously penetrating the eastern and central parts of Pakistan.
Forecast
Under these conditions, more monsoon rains and gusty winds with isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and most parts of Kashmir, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Southeast Sindh and northeast Balochistan on Thursday night, Friday and Saturday.
Impacts
Heavy rains may cause urban flooding in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Pothohar region, Peshawar, Nowshera, Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Lahore and Faisalabad.
Landslides may occur in vulnerable areas of upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Galyat, and Kashmir.
Heavy rains may generate flash floods in local streams/nullahs of Kashmir, Murree, Galyat, Northeastern Punjab, Islamabad, Pothohar region, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and hill torrents of D G Khan and Northeastern Balochistan.
Heavy rains, Windstorm & lightning may damage weak structures such as solar panels, electric poles, and billboards.
Temperatures
Daytime temperatures in Islamabad are expected to remain between 34°C and 36°C on Friday and Saturday.
Daytime temperatures in Rawalpindi are expected to remain between 32°C and 34°C on Friday and Saturday.
