Religious scholars and leaders from different faiths on Wednesday emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, national unity and the promotion of Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative, reaffirming their commitment to the security, peace and stability of the country.
Addressing the Interfaith Leadership Peace Conference organized by the Interfaith Council for Peace and Harmony Pakistan, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Pakistan, Khateeb and Imam of Badshahi Mosque Lahore, Chairman of the Interfaith Council for Peace and Harmony Pakistan, Chairman of Majlis-e-Ulama Pakistan, and Ambassador of Peace said Pakistan was a blessing from Almighty Allah and all citizens were united for its protection and defence.
He said Pakistan was a peaceful homeland for all minorities, where followers of every religion enjoyed freedom to practice their faith, adding that promoting tolerance, brotherhood and coexistence was the need of the hour.
He said that Almighty Allah had blessed Pakistan with the great gift of a homeland in the month of August, for which the nation remained grateful. He stressed that promoting inter-sectarian harmony, interfaith harmony, and the Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative was the need of the hour. He said Pakistan was a safe and peaceful homeland for all minorities, where followers of every religion enjoyed complete freedom to practice their faith. He added that Pakistan came into existence after the sacrifices of millions of people and that love for one’s homeland was an integral part of faith.
He said the nation was united for the protection of Pakistan, which he described as a fortress of the Muslim Ummah. He further stated that freedom was one of the greatest blessings of Almighty Allah and every citizen was ready to safeguard the security and defence of the country. He emphasized that only a united nation could defeat its enemies and said the hostile agenda of India would never be allowed to succeed in Pakistan. He added that the entire nation and interfaith leadership stood shoulder to shoulder with the Pakistan Armed Forces and national security institutions for the security, protection, and defence of the country.
The conference was attended and addressed by prominent religious leaders representing different faiths, scholars from various schools of thought, spiritual leaders and social personalities. Among the participants were Ambassador of Love Dr. Leif Hetland, Pir Syed Saadat Ali Shah, Bishop Nadeem Kamran, Mufti Zamir Ahmad Sajid, Sardar Santokh Singh, Maulana Tanveer Ahmad Alvi, Mufti Amir Shahzad, Allama Sajjad Hussain Naqvi, Mufti Abdul Basit, Bishop James Bhatti, Sardar Sanjeet Singh, Maulana Abdul Aziz, Qari Akram-ul-Haq, Maulana Bilal Golravi, Pir Umar Farooq Shah, Maulana Abid Israr, Bishop Shahid Mahmood, Allama Syed Mustafa Haider Naqvi, Pir Muhammad Afzal Qadri, Hafiz Ghulam Rasool, Maulana Fatah Muhammad Khan, Mufti Muhammad Iqbal Rizvi, Hassan Shoaib, Maulana Abdul Salam Jalali, Mufti Muhammad Aslam Ziai, Maulana Muhammad Khateeb Mustafai, Dr. Irshad Ahmad Khan, Maulana Ehsan-ul-Haq Qureshi, Hafiz Farhan Hazarvi, Syed Ausaf Ali Shah, Pir Karamat Ali Shah, Maulana Pir Arshad Haideri, Maulana Ziaullah Hazarvi, Professor Zafarullah Jan, Sahibzada Syed Abdul Basir Azad, Sahibzada Syed Muhammad Abdul Razzaq Azad, Haji Ghulam Hussain Muhammadi, Qari Khurram Golravi and other distinguished personalities.
Addressing the conference, Maulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, Ambassador of Peace, said Islam teaches peace, security, respect for humanity and service to mankind. He said Pakistan was a great blessing of Almighty Allah and every citizen was united for the protection and defence of the country.
He said Pakistan was a peaceful homeland for all minorities where followers of every religion enjoyed freedom to practice their faith. He stressed that promotion of inter-sectarian harmony, interfaith harmony, national unity and the Paigham-e-Pakistan narrative was the need of the hour.
Maulana Azad said Islam guarantees minority rights and rejects extremism and terrorism while promoting tolerance, brotherhood and coexistence. He added that the entire nation and interfaith leadership stood with Pakistan Armed Forces and national security institutions for the security and defence of the country.
Ambassador of Love Dr. Leif Hetland said the conference conveyed a message of peace to the world and appreciated Pakistan’s efforts for interfaith harmony. Religious leaders reaffirmed that unity was essential for national stability and vowed that all Pakistanis would remain united under one flag. At the conclusion, participants raised Pakistan’s flags and offered prayers for the country’s security, prosperity, unity of the Muslim Ummah, and peace in Jammu and Kashmir, Gaza and Palestine.
