ISLAMABAD – International Labour Organization (ILO) Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo has arrived in Pakistan as he is scheduled to hold key meetings with top officials.
The International Labour Organization is a United Nations agency whose mandate is to advance social and economic justice by setting international labour standards.
The ILO Dg is set to hold meetings with President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah.
During the visit, he would also meet local partners and the ILO officials in Pakistan.
ILO Director-General Gilbert F. Houngbo is also scheduled to conclude his visit with a podcast interview with the Pakistan Observer in Lahore.
Gilbert F. Houngbo was elected as the ILO’s 11th Director-General by the organization’s Governing Body in March 2022, for a five-year term. He took office in October 2022.
He has spent much of his life working to improve the prospects of the world’s most vulnerable people, using his extensive experience in policy issues, economic development, diplomacy and financial accountability.
