IHC extends stay on 50% extra toll charges for vehicles without M-Tags

Ihc Extends Stay On 50 Extra Toll Charges For Vehicles Without M Tags

ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has extended its order preventing the collection of an additional 50% toll tax from vehicles without M-Tags or those carrying insufficient balances.

A hearing was held on a petition challenging the notification imposing the additional toll charges.

During the proceedings, the National Highway Authority (NHA) submitted its written response to the court in the case

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir asked the petitioner’s counsel whether a copy of the NHA’s response had been received. The lawyer confirmed that it had just been provided but said he had not yet had an opportunity to review it.

NHA’s counsel informed the court that another case concerning a similar matter was also pending and requested that the two cases be combined.

Justice Arbab Muhammad Tahir said the court was already aware of the other proceedings but observed that the two matters were separate cases.

The court subsequently extended its earlier order restraining the NHA from collecting the 50% additional toll charge from vehicles without M-Tags or with inadequate balances and adjourned the hearing.
