IESCO crackdown against power theft continues

As per direction of Government of Pakistan and the Ministry of Energy and under the leadership of Chief Executive IESCO Dr. Muhammad Amjad Khan, Indiscriminate operations against electricity thieves and defaulters are continuing all the operation circles of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) including Islamabad Rawalpindi City, Rawalpindi Cantt, Attock, Jhelum and Chakwal in which electricity thieves are facing heavy fines and arrests are also made by police. In this anti-electricity theft campaign that has been ongoing since September 7, 2023, IESCO detection teams have checked 271360 meters out of which electricity was stealing from 4057 meters.

IESCO has imposed fines of 235.64 million by charging 49.9 million units to the concerned consumers for stealing of electricity. 3456 domestic, 384 commercial, 66 industrial and 151 other tariff consumers were involved in electricity theft. By registering 558 FIRs against electricity thieves, police arrested 476 people. On the other hand, IESCO’s recovery teams are also recovering dues to electricity defaulters, as a result of 332.97 million were recovered from 25842 running defaulters and 339.55 million from 11369 dead defaulters.

In total, the recovery of 672.51 million was ensured from 37211 consumers who did not pay electricity dues. Chief Executive IESCO Dr Muhammad Amjad Khan praised thee efforts made by Chief Engineer Operations Muhammad Aslam Khan, Chief Engineer Customer Services ArifMehmoodSaduzai, IESCO Senior Management, IESCO officers and employees and detection teams for making the anti-power theft and recovery campaign successfully.
