ICC unveils T20 World Cup 2024 schedule

T20 World Cup 2024 action is set to start on June 1, 2024 as the International Cricket Council announced much much-awaited schedulefor the flagship event.

A total of 55 fixtures will be played at 9 different venues in the US and West Indies, and the much-anticipated clash between arch rival Pakistan and India is set for June 9 2024 at New York’s Eisenhower Park.

The games will be played at Kensington Oval in Barbados, Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Trinidad, Providence Stadium in Guyana, Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua, Darren Sammy Cricket Ground in St Lucia, and Arnos Vale Stadium in St Vincent. In the United States, games will be held at Eisenhower Park in New York, Lauderhill in Florida, and Grand Prairie in Texas.

The semi-finals are set for June 26 and 27 in Guyana and Trinidad, while the World Cup’s culmination will be in Barbados on June 29.

For T20 World Cup 2024, teams are divided into four groups:

Group A (India, Pakistan, Ireland, Canada, United States)

Group B (England, Australia, Namibia, Scotland, Oman)

Group C (New Zealand, West Indies, Afghanistan, Uganda, Papua New Guinea)

Group D (South Africa, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Netherlands, Nepal)

The 20 qualifying teams are grouped into four groups of five, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the Super 8 round. The qualified teams will then be split into two groups of four, leading to the semi-finals and ultimately the final.

This marks the first time since 2010 that the T20 World Cup, previously won by England, will be hosted in the West Indies. Additionally, it is the inaugural occasion of such a significant event being hosted by the United States.
