ABBOTTABAD – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government, through its Directorate of Youth Affairs, along with the District Administration Abbottabad and District Youth Office Abbottabad, organised the ninth Metrix Pakistan Youth Summit at COMSATS University Islamabad, Abbottabad Campus, with a focus on technology, employment skills and opportunities for young people.
The event brought together students, entrepreneurs, academics, government representatives and technology professionals for discussions and practical sessions covering artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, digital entrepreneurship and the use of technology in public services.
A major part of the programme focused on student-led projects and startup ideas. Young participants presented their concepts before business and industry representatives and received feedback on product development, market requirements, communication and potential commercial applications. The sessions also gave participants exposure to the process of developing an idea into a potential product or business.
Students displayed academic and technology-based projects during the exhibition, allowing them to interact with professionals and discuss possible applications of their work. Organisers said the activity was aimed at creating greater interaction between students, institutions and industry.
The use of technology in public-sector services was also discussed during the summit. Sessions examined applications in policing, emergency response, traffic management, cybercrime and citizen services, while speakers discussed how digital platforms could improve access to government offices and reduce administrative delays.
Workshops covered areas including open-source intelligence, cybersecurity and digital assets, giving participants an opportunity to learn about technologies and practices being used in professional fields.
More than 15 national speakers and industry representatives, over 15 student project exhibitions and more than 15 companies were associated with the programme, according to the organisers, who described the ninth edition as the largest in the summit’s history.
The programme also included awards recognising contributions in healthcare, research, social welfare, neurosurgery and the arts. Twelve digital content creators from different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were also recognised for their work in digital media and regional storytelling.
Metrix Pakistan conducted the summit in collaboration with the Directorate of Youth Affairs, Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, District Administration Abbottabad and District Youth Office Abbottabad.
