ISLAMABAD – Monsoon clouds continue to test Pakistan’s preparedness, and country’s emergency response system moved into a higher state of readiness. During his visit to NDMA headquarters, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir stepped into the nation’s disaster management hub, where officials showcased advanced monitoring capabilities and the ‘Disaster Lens 2026’ system designed to track risks and strengthen response efforts.
Amid growing concerns over monsoon-related risks, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir visited the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) headquarters to review Pakistan’s preparedness strategy and emergency response arrangements for the ongoing rainy season.
During his visit to the National Emergencies Operation Centre (NEOC), the military leadership was briefed on the country’s disaster management capabilities, real-time monitoring systems, and coordination mechanisms designed to respond swiftly to potential emergencies.
Officials highlighted the capabilities of “Disaster Lens 2026”, a technology-based monitoring system that provides updates on the prevailing monsoon situation while enabling authorities to track multiple hazards and improve decision-making during crises.
Field Marshal Asim Munir appreciated NDMA’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s disaster response framework and stressed the importance of advance planning, effective coordination between institutions, and rapid deployment of resources to protect lives and critical infrastructure.
Reaffirming the armed forces’ support during emergencies, the Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces said Pakistan’s military remains prepared to assist civil administrations and NDMA in rescue, relief, and rehabilitation operations whenever required.
The visit comes as authorities continue to closely monitor monsoon developments across the country, with emergency response agencies maintaining heightened readiness to deal with possible weather-related challenges.
