GLASGOW – Pakistan received its first major boost at the 2026 Commonwealth Games as female boxer Fatima Zahra advanced to the semi-finals of the women’s 60kg boxing event, securing at least a medal for the country.
Fatima Zahra booked her place in the last four after defeating New Zealand’s Jordan Wilson by a unanimous 5-0 decision in the quarter-final.
Competing at SEC Hall 5 in Glasgow, the Pakistani boxer delivered an impressive performance across all three rounds, convincing all five judges to award her the victory.
Under the competition format, reaching the semi-finals guarantees every boxer at least a bronze medal, ensuring Pakistan’s first medal in the boxing competition.
Fatima Zahra is no stranger to success on the international stage, having previously won a bronze medal for Pakistan at the Islamic Solidarity Games.
She will now look to win her semi-final bout and secure a place in the gold medal match.
