Father kills son in Southern Afghanistan after verbal argument

According to local Taliban security authorities, a verbal dispute between a father and son in the southern Afghan province of Kandahar led to an incident in which the former fatally stabbed the latter.

The event, in which a father used a knife to behead his own son, occurred on Tuesday, September 6, in Kalacha village in Arghandab district in Kandahar province, according to sources familiar with the issue.

The murderer, whom Mawlawi Mohammad Qasim Siyar, the Taliban chief of police for Arghandab district identified as Sardar Khan, killed the victim, his son, before escaping.

The Taliban official stated that the Taliban forces are searching for the murderer while an investigation is proceeding to look into the case further.

There has been no mention of what prompted the man to kill his son, or at the very least, what the argument was about, that led to the materialization of such an act.

In the meantime, authorities in the Kandahar province reported finding a body in the Siachap neighborhood of police district 7.

The body, according to authorities, belonged to a man whose nephews murdered him and hid his body in a house.

Domestic violence has increased since the Taliban took power, while poverty and unemployment in Afghanistan have reached all-time highs. As a result, killings, suicides, and interpersonal conflicts have escalated.—Tolonews
