Governor Punjab Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that those who spread chaos and sectarianism during Muharram will be dealt with strictly.
Security forces are risking their lives to maintain peace and order. Full cooperation with law enforcement agencies and security forces is essential during Ashura to ensure peace and security. He expressed these views during a meeting with members of the District Peace Committee of Rawalpindi Division in Islamabad today regarding Muharram. Ulema, business community and people belonging to different sects were present during the meeting.
Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said that ensuring peace and order during Muharram is the top priority of the provincial governments and the provincial governments will fully cooperate with the federal government in this regard. He said that the PPP and the Punjab government are on the same page on the law and order situation in the province.
The Punjab Governor said that the performance of the peace committees in religious harmony is commendable. He said that Islam teaches us the lesson of brotherhood and peace. The Punjab Governor said that inflammatory speeches should be avoided during Muharram. The Punjab Governor said that Pakistan has defeated its eternal enemy India in war, and the war has to be won against those elements who want to spread chaos under the guise of religious sectarianism. The Governor of Punjab said that I will personally visit the majalis and review the law and order situation. The Governor of Punjab further said that our security forces are risking their lives to maintain law and order.
On this occasion, the members of the peace committee assured the Governor of Punjab that the peace committees will fully cooperate with the provincial government during Muharram-ul-Haram.
