BRISTOL – England continued their dominant run against India, registering another emphatic victory in the fourth T20 International to clinch the five-match series with an unassailable 3-0 lead.
Playing at Bristol, India won the toss and opted to bat first, but the decision failed to pay off as England’s disciplined bowling attack restricted the visitors to a below-par total.
Apart from captain Shreyas Iyer, no Indian batter managed to make a significant contribution against the English pace attack. Iyer played a fighting innings of 80 runs off 49 balls, holding the innings together after regular wickets disrupted India’s progress.
India finished their allotted 20 overs on 158 for 7, with England’s bowlers maintaining tight control throughout the innings. Jofra Archer and Josh Tongue were the standout performers with the ball, claiming two wickets each and preventing the Indian batters from accelerating in the closing overs.
In reply, England produced a commanding batting display and chased down the 159-run target with remarkable ease. The hosts reached the target in just 14 overs, losing only one wicket in the process.
Opening batter Phil Salt laid the foundation with a fluent 59, while Harry Brook played a sensational unbeaten knock of 79 runs, steering England to victory with aggressive stroke play. The pair dominated the Indian bowling attack and ensured there were no late setbacks during the chase.
The comprehensive victory gave England an unbeatable 3-0 lead in the five-match T20I series, with one game still to be played.
England entered the fourth match full of confidence after inflicting a heavy defeat on India in the previous encounter, where the visitors were bowled out for just 76 runs while chasing a target of 201. The latest result further underlined England’s superiority throughout the series, with both their batting and bowling units consistently outperforming the visitors.
With the series already secured, England will now look to complete a clean sweep, while India will aim to salvage some pride in the final T20 International.
