KARACHI – A Karachi resident was left shocked after receiving an e-challan for a motorcycle that had been stolen from outside his house several years ago, raising questions about the efficiency of the city police and the Anti-Vehicle Lifting Cell (AVLC).
The citizen reported that his motorcycle had been stolen a few years ago, and a theft case was registered at the Tipu Sultan Police Station.
However, to his surprise, he recently received an e-challan worth Rs5,000 dated October 27, 2025, issued against the same motorcycle.
The e-challan stated that the rider was not wearing a helmet at the time of the violation.
The affected citizen expressed astonishment, saying that while the authorities failed to recover his stolen motorcycle, they were able to send him a traffic fine related to it.
He appealed to police officials to trace the person captured in the e-challan image riding his stolen motorcycle and ensure its recovery.
The incident has sparked criticism of the city’s law enforcement performance, particularly that of the AVLC and police checkpoints, as the stolen motorcycle appears to be freely moving across Karachi without being intercepted.
