A police officer was martyred in firing by a drug dealer during a raid in North Cantonment area of Lahore on Wednesday.
According to details, Ichhra police officer Arshad with other colleagues went to arrest the drug dealer near JoraPul where accused Waseem opened fire at the police party and escaped from the scene.
Arshad received severe injuries as a result of firing and was shifted to a hospital in critical condition but he succumbed to his injuries. Later, the police shifted the body to the mortuary for post-mortem.
Moreover, a pitiless person tortured his wife to death over domestic disputes here, police said on Wednesday. According to details, accused Riaz Ahmed hailing from Qabarkot area of Kasur Khuddian Khas police station jurisdiction brutally tortured his wife over domestic issues.
The torture resulted in death of 28-year-old NaziaBibi on the spot and the culprit escaped the scene of crime. Getting the information of incident, police reached the scene and shifted the body to District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Kasur. A case was also registered against murderer Riaz Ahmed and raids were being conducted for his arrest.
