Dogar contacts NA Speaker regarding PTI members’ resignations


The spokesperson of the National Assembly on Tuesday confirmed that former PTI Chief Whip in National Assembly Malik Amir Dogar telephonically contacted Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and requested for formal meeting to deliberate upon issue of confirmation of resignations of PTI MNAs.

It is pertinent to mention that Speaker National Assembly is at present, in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh in connection with the 15th anniversary of martyrdom of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.

The former Chief Whip informed that a delegation of PTI leaders comprising of Vice Chairperson PTI Shah Mehmood Qureshi, senior PTI political leader Pervez Khattak and some other PTI leaders would be present in the meeting.

The PTI delegation would discuss matter of resignations of Members National Assembly of PTI.

It was also informed that earlier it was decided by PTI that all 124 members of PTI will appear before the speaker, but later it was decided that delegation of PTI senior political leaders would meet with NA Speaker.

Raja Pervaiz Ashraf welcomed this formal contact on behalf of PTI. He also said that there is always room for political discussion and dialogue. He encouraged the continuity of dialogue among political leaders and parties.

The Speaker also reiterated that there is a clear procedure in the Constitution of Pakistan and the rules of Business of the National Assembly of Pakistan regarding confirmation of resignations of members of National Assembly and this procedure would be followed in letter and spirit.

Malik Aamir Dogar thanked the Speaker National Assembly Raja Pervez Ashraf and it was agreed upon that PTI delegation comprising senior leadership of PTI would call on Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf soon after his return from Garhi Khuda Baksh.
