The district administration, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza, has intensified preparations to ensure foolproof security and maintain law and order during the holy month of Muharram ul Haram, particularly on Ashura.

In a meeting held at Nader Hall, DC Syed Musa Raza and DIG Operations Faisal Kamran jointly reviewed detailed security and administrative arrangements for central processions and majalis. The meeting was attended by Chief Officer Metropolitan Corporation Lahore Shahid Abbas Kathia, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Headquarters) Muhammad Jafar Chaudhry, and representatives of various departments, along with members of the Peace Committee. The Peace Committee reaffirmed its commitment to fostering interfaith harmony, tolerance, and unity, and pledged active support in identifying and countering any elements that may disrupt communal peace.

Participants acknowledged the visible field presence of Assistant Commissioners across the city and praised their proactive role in overseeing road patch-up work, installation of streetlights, and ensuring overall route clearance.

DC Syed Musa Raza assured that cleanliness and infrastructure improvements along all designated procession routes are being prioritised, with strict deadlines for completion well before Ashura.

DIG Operations Faisal Kamran emphasised the strategic importance of the Peace Committee, referring to its members as the “enforcement force” of the district administration. DC Musa Raza endorsed this sentiment, describing them as “ambassadors of peace”, and called for continued community engagement and coordination in upholding religious harmony during Muharram.

The DC reiterated the administration’s unwavering commitment to public safety, orderly processions, and timely execution of all civic preparations to ensure a peaceful observance of Muharram across Lahore.
