Cooking oil, ghee prices decrease in Pakistan [September 2024]

ISLAMABAD – Prices of cooking oil, ghee and several other items saw a significant decrease at the Utility Stores across Pakistan after inflation dropped to single digit in Pakistan.

Reports said Utility Stores Corporation has reduced the prices of over 800 items by up to 10%. The price of ghee, cooking oil, tea, detergent, noodles, ketchup, tetra pack milk, powdered milk, spices, pickles, soap, toothpaste, and others have been decreased by Rs8 to Rs200. The new prices have been implemented immediately.

Meanwhile, the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP) subsidy at Utility Stores Corporation has been temporarily suspended with authorities stating that it will be reinstated soon under a new procedure.

The management of Utility Stores Corporation has begun implementing a new strategy with a renewed commitment to providing excellent services. Measures are being taken to ensure the availability of high-quality and affordable goods.

Customers can now shop at Utility Stores without any inconvenience or conditions.

The core inflation measured by Consumer Price Index (CPI) dropped to 9.6 percent during August 2024 to hit the 34-month low.

The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) data revealed the CPI inflation was recorded at 11.1 percent in July 2024. However, during the same month last year (August 2023), it stood at 27.4%.
