The Embassy of Pakistan in Stockholm organized a commemorative event at Pakistan House on 10 June 2026 to mark the 150th birth anniversary of the Founder of Pakistan, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The event was attended by members of the Pakistani diaspora, academics, professionals, Swedish friends, journalists and students etc.
In his remarks, Ambassador Bilal Hayee paid rich tribute to Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah’s visionary leadership, unwavering commitment to constitutionalism, democratic values, rule of law, and the struggle for the rights of the Muslims of the Subcontinent. He underscored the continuing relevance of Quaid-e-Azam’s guiding principles of Unity, Faith, and Discipline.
The event featured presentations from international and local scholars. Joining virtually from Washington DC. Professor Akbar S. Ahmed – IbnKhaldun Chair of Islamic Studies at American University and Global Fellow of the Wilson Center reflected on Quaid-e-Azam’s statesmanship, intellectual clarity, and enduring contribution to the creation of Pakistan. He emphasized the importance of preserving and transmitting Quaid-e-Azam’s vision to future generations.
Professor Ali Qadir, Professor and Head of the Department of Sociology and Director of the Program in the Study of Mysticism at Tampere University, Finland, shared scholarly perspectives on Quaid-e-Azam’s leadership and the relevance of his ideas in contemporary societies in education and minority rights.
A documentary highlighting the life, struggle, and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was screened during the event.
Members of the Pakistani community in Stockholm also shared their reflections on various aspects of Quaid-e-Azam’s legacy. Ms. RiffatJehan spoke on Quaid-e-Azam’s vision regarding women’s rights and empowerment. Mr. SohailSafdar highlighted Quaid-e-Azam’s connection with culture, language, and national identity. Mr. Muhammad Siddique reflected on the Founder’s commitment to public service, integrity, and institution-building.
A particularly inspiring segment of the programme featured a presentation by young Ibrahim Chaudhry, who shared his thoughts on the life and achievements of Quaid-e-Azam, demonstrating the continued relevance of his message for younger generations.
Mr. ArifMehmoodKisana, author, philanthropist, social worker, and medical researcher, also addressed the audience and spoke about the importance of community service, social responsibility, and leadership values embodied by Quaid-e-Azam.
This was the first event in a series of programs envisaged throughout the year to celebrate the life and legacy of Quaid e Azam in Sweden.—PR
