Cabinet rolls out unique plates, upgrades health system

The Sindh Cabinet unveiled a series of groundbreaking initiatives aimed at enhancing public services, security, and welfare across the province. Motorists in Sindh will soon have the option to adorn their vehicles with premium number plates, offering a blend of customization and legacy. These unique plates, available in Platinum, Gold, and silver categories, promise a new era of personalized vehicle identification while bolstering government revenue streams. A significant allocation of Rs1.5 billion was greenlit to equip SUIT Sukkur with a state-of-the-art MRI system, empowering medical professionals to deliver advanced diagnostic services to the local community.

This investment underscores the government’s commitment to improving healthcare access and quality in underserved regions. Recognizing the vital role of security forces in maintaining peace and order, the Cabinet approved an extension of Pakistan Rangers’ deployment in Karachi Division.

This strategic move, backed by the Anti-Terrorism ACT 1997, reinforces the government’s unwavering commitment to safeguarding public safety and combating crime. Amidst the ongoing pandemic challenges, the Cabinet demonstrated compassion by approving the release of Rs. 10.189 billion for retired civil servants. This long-awaited pension disbursement will provide much-needed financial relief to thousands of retirees, ensuring their well-deserved dues are met without further delay. Funds were earmarked for critical flood protection infrastructure in vulnerable areas, bolstering resilience against natural disasters and safeguarding communities.

The Cabinet addressed infrastructure needs with the approval of remaining project costs for the M9-N5 Link Road, facilitating smoother transportation networks. Construction hurdles for the Malir Expressway were tackled head-on, with additional funds allocated to overcome challenges and expedite project completion. Stamp duty remission was granted for a charitable organization’s educational initiative, promoting philanthropic efforts in education. Key appointments were made, including leadership roles in financial institutions and nominations to the Thar Coal & Energy Board, fostering expertise and leadership in critical sectors.

These progressive measures underscore the government’s proactive approach to governance, prioritizing innovation, inclusivity, and public welfare in Sindh. The Sindh Cabinet has approved a budget allocation of 7.331 billion rupees for the construction of the Malir Expressway. Chief Minister Sindh has directed the Works Department to ensure the inauguration of the Malir Expressway portion by August. For the upcoming general elections, funds worth 1.672698 billion rupees were earmarked for installing CCTV cameras. Out of this amount, 1.479139 billion rupees were disbursed, while 193.559 million rupees were withheld on Cabinet’s directive. Furthermore, the Cabinet decided not to release the remaining funds for election preparations.

The government had earlier approved 509 million rupees for hiring vehicles during the elections. Of this amount, 367.552 million rupees have been disbursed, leaving 141.447 million rupees pending. The Treasury Department has been instructed not to release any additional funds. Additionally, 625.467 million rupees were sanctioned for security arrangements during the election period. Out of this, 375.280 million rupees have been released, while 250.187 million rupees are yet to be disbursed. The Sindh Cabinet has directed the Treasury Department not to release any further funds.
