Beware! Fake E-Challan Messages target Islamabad Citizens in New Scam

ISLAMABAD – A routine message on the phone could land you in serious trouble. In Islamabad, suspicious e-challan alerts are being circulated, tempting citizens with fake traffic violation notices and dangerous links.

Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued an urgent warning, urging residents to stay alert and avoid falling prey to scammers posing as official authorities. According to ITP, fraudulent messages claiming to be related to traffic violations are being circulated through SMS and WhatsApp. These messages often contain suspicious links that may redirect users to fake websites designed to steal sensitive personal and financial information.

The traffic police have strongly advised citizens not to click on any unverified links or share confidential details after receiving such notifications. Officials stressed that people should not trust messages that appear to be official traffic alerts unless they are verified through authorized channels.

ITP further directed citizens to check their e-challan status only through the official government platform and avoid using links provided in text messages or messaging applications.

The department has also urged anyone receiving suspicious or fake e-challan alerts to immediately report the matter to the police or the Cyber Crime Wing of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).

Authorities warned that scammers are increasingly using digital platforms to impersonate government departments, making public awareness and caution essential to prevent financial and personal data theft.

Citizens have been reminded to remain vigilant, verify information before taking any action, and rely only on official sources for traffic-related updates.
