KARACHI – A routine investigation unfolded inside RD-52 police station in Jacobabad was nothing short of a nightmare as a young girl, held in custody along with her sister and grandmother over a murder case, became the victim of a horrifying crime.

The shocking abuse of power reported from Jacobabad, known as world’s hottest cities, where six police officers, including an ASI, have been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a young girl at a police station.

SSP Kaleem Malik launched an inquiry following a video message from the victim, revealing the brutality she endured. Preliminary medical reports confirmed the assault, indicating the girl had been gang-raped while in police custody.

According to officials, the victim, her sister, and grandmother had been detained for several days at RD-52 police station in Taluka Thul during a murder investigation. The inquiry, carried out under the instructions of the Inspector General of Police, found that six policemen assaulted the girl while the station house officer was absent.

The girl was subsequently shifted to Thul Taluka Hospital, where a medico-legal officer examined her and collected samples for DNA analysis. Following the investigation, SSP Malik suspended all six officers and ordered their immediate arrest. The FIR was filed based on a complaint lodged by the victim’s grandmother.

The accused now face serious charges under Sections 375-A (rape), 344 (wrongful confinement for over 10 days), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 34 (common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. This case has sent shockwaves across Jacobabad, raising urgent questions about police accountability and the safety of those in custody.
