LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 86 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different housing schemes and LDA-controlled areas on Friday.

LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 23 buildings in Johar Town, 32 on Wahdat Road, and 31 in New Muslim Town and from Lytton Road to Chauburji Chowk during operations against illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.

The sealed premises include American Lyceum, Chughtai Lab, Bata outlet, Shifa Medical Centre, grocery stores, offices, and other businesses.

LDA Chief Town Planner I, Assad-uz-Zaman, and Chief Town Planner II, Azhar Ali, supervised the operations carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police.

Meanwhile, LDA teams retrieved five plots worth millions of rupees from land grabbers during operations in different blocks of Johar Town. LDA Director Housing VII Yawar Virk supervised the demolition operation carried out by the enforcement teams with the assistance of the Police and heavy machinery.

According to the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.

LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against land grabbers, encroachments, violations of bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters in LDA-controlled areas and housing schemes.
