A three member delegation of non government organization ACF Animal Rescue engaged in the welfare and rescue work of animals in the city met Commissioner Karachi, Iftikhar Shallwani at his office on Wednesday. The delegation was led by its founder Ayesha Chundrigar. Commissioner. Karachi has assured the delegation to provide all possible support towards ACF for the work of animal rescue. Further said that City administration will provide all possible support and guidance to the organization in successfully undertaking awareness campaign in Karachi to create awareness of animal rights and animal rescue.
ACF made detailed presentation on efforts on animal rights and welfare to the Commissioner. It was informed to the Commissioner that the ACF was running the animal shelter in Karachi which is first of its kind in Pakistan, and injured and unwell animals including horses camels , cats and other stray animals are rescued for which ambulance service is being run and hospital for their treatment has been established.
It was told by the delegation to the Commissioner that they have active rescue helpline service and social media where reporters report injured animals, as well as a spay/neuter/release program; It was also told the commissioner that donkey camps, are held by the ACF where ACF team goes out to different donkey/equine populated areas of the city to provide medical treatment, food and water to the donkeys and to educate the owner on donkey behavior and donkey handling.
