Weather in Karachi turned pleasant after the third spell of monsoon rain hits several parts of the metropolis on Sunday.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), the rainfall resulted under the influence of low-pressure areas developed in India’s Gujrat.
The parts of Karachi which received heavy to moderate rain include Malir, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, PECHS Society, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Kathor, Surjani Town, Bahadurabad, Super Highway Cattle Market, Shahra-e-Faisal and other parts of the city.
During the rain, citizens suffered extreme difficulty while traveling through the flooded roads which created huge traffic jams in busiest roads in different parts of the city.
The civic life came to a halt as the rainwater flooded all roads and streets. All the utility services, including power, water and telecommunication, were badly affected. The civic agencies, particularly the cantonment boards, failed to cope with the situation.
The rain also caused frequent power breakdowns, delays in arrival and departure of trains and commuters and pedestrians on roads also experienced problems due to the absence of public transport.
