A report was submitted in the Punjab Assembly on Thursday regarding the number of AIDS patients in which it has been said that 11,080 people are suffering from AIDS in Punjab at present. Support is provided through the AIDS Control Programme.
The Punjab AIDS Programme is providing free medicines, counseling and medical guidance to these patients. Work is underway to stop HIV transmission in the unborn child. So far, 160 HIV-free children have been born in the province through this programme. The mothers of these children were suffering from AIDS. The Punjab AIDS Control Programme was set up in 1998, which has helped in controlling AIDS in the province.
Under this programme, centers have been opened in 36 districts where people can easily avail medical facilities. An adjournment motion was also filed in the Punjab Assembly against the unfair distribution of honorarium at Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital. The amount of honorarium has been distributed at Medical College and Jinnah Hospital.
The adjournment motion against the distribution of honorarium at Allama Iqbal Medical College and Jinnah Hospital has been filed in the Punjab Assembly by Shazia Abid, Member Punjab Assembly of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP). The principal and the director of finance opened the doors of government money to their favorite officials. Health workers performing their duties at high risk of coronavirus have been neglected.
The principal of Allama Iqbal Medical College and the finance director had earlier also violated court orders. The test fee share was also agreed upon. The funds were distributed ignoring the government orders and decisions of the judiciary. The finance director and the principal are working together to deprive the staff of their rights. This person is causing the financial and administrative affairs of the hospital to deteriorate by taking the principal and MS into his own hands, MPA alleged.
The adjournment motion was also filed in the Punjab Assembly against the lack of security arrangements for corona in cattle markets. The rate of wearing masks by traders in cattle markets is only 5pc. The rate of wearing masks by buyers in cattle markets is 20pc. Prior to the establishment of cattle markets, the government claimed that all safety measures Arrangements will be made to ensure implementation. However, the administration has failed miserably to implement Corona SOPs in cattle markets. Due to non-implementation of corona SOPs, the lives of the citizens are at stake.
