Anti-polio campaign begins today

A three-day anti-polio campaign will start tomorrow in twenty-seven districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to Provincial Health Department, more than four million children below the age of five will be administered anti-polio drops during the campaign, reported Radio Pakistan.
More than twenty-seven thousand teams have been constituted which will visit door-to-door to ensure administering anti-polio drops to each and every child. Polio teams will also be available at bus stops, railway stations and other public places to administer the anti-polio vaccine. Strict security measures have been taken for security of polio teams.
In Sargodha, as many as 55,514 children under five years of age will be administered polio vaccine during the 3-day anti-Polio drive starting from August 26 at tehsil Bhera. According to official sources, the health department has completed all arrangements in this regard. A total of 173 teams have been formed while 386 staffers of the health and others departments will administer anti-polio drops.
Special polio campaign to start from Monday in seven districts of Balochistan: Coordinator Emergency Operation Center Balochistan, Rashid Razzaq on Sunday said a special polio campaign would be launched after recent reported cases of polio on Monday, urging all segment of society members to play due role for eradication of polio diseases in province. A seven days polio campaign will be started in 7 districts of Balochistan including Quetta and Pishin from August 26th, Naseerabad, Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Sohbat Pur from 28th August while campaign in Qila Abdullah will formally begin on 2nd September, Coordinator EOC Balochistan Rashid Razzaq said in statement.
