LAHORE – The Punjab Provincial Transport Authority (PPTA) has extended the deadline for obtaining fitness certificate for vehicles by one month.
It shared the development on Facebook, stating that the deadlines, which was set to expire on October 15, has been extended until November 15, 2026.
The Punjab Provincial Transport Authority has established to 20 PVICS centres across Punjab – Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Rahim Yar Khan and Sadiqabad. As per latest decision, the emission test points are working around the clock.
Vehicles Exempted from Fitness Certificate
The Punjab Provincial Transport Authority (PPTA) has revised the requirements for fitness certificates for motor cars, allowing exemption to newly manufactured vehicles for several years.
According to a notification, the duration of the exemption will depend on the vehicle’s engine capacity and date of manufacture.
Cars with engines up to 1,000cc will require a fitness certificate after five years from the date of manufacture, while vehicles with engines between 1,001cc and 2,000cc will need certification after six years.
For cars with engine capacities exceeding 2,000cc, a fitness certificate will become mandatory seven years after the date of manufacture.
Fitness Certificate Fees for Vehicles
Under the new schedule, motorcycle owners will be charged Rs100 for an emissions test, while the fee for rickshaws has been fixed at Rs300.
For cars and light transport vehicles (LTVs), the charges vary according to engine capacity. Vehicles with engines of 1,000cc or below will be charged Rs500. The fee for vehicles with engine capacities ranging from 1,000cc to 1,500cc has been set at Rs800.
Owners of vehicles with engines between 1,500cc and 2,500cc will have to pay Rs1,000 for emissions testing. The fee rises to Rs1,500 for vehicles with engine capacities between 2,500cc and 4,500cc.
For vehicles with engines of 4,500cc or above, the emissions testing fee has been fixed at Rs2,000.
